Armed assault not so easy in post-9/11 world

Remember how your teachers and your employers and just about everyone else told you to behave when an armed assailant threatens you? “Just do what he asks and he won’t hurt you . . . rape isn’t so bad . . . do you really want to live forever?”

I’d like to think that 9/11 changed all that. The news this week from Costa Rica suggests maybe it has, at least among some retired military men and other American senior citizens.
