Fun with referrer logs

I like to check our referrer logs from time to time to see how folks are finding Guntards.net. Referrer logs are part of the normal traffic logs for the site. In addition to information like the IP addresses of our visitors and the pages they looked at, we can in many cases see what other sites referred them to us.

Usually these are other blogs that link to us. Occasionally they are search engines such as Google. In those cases, we can actually see the search terms used to find us.

Hardly anyone ever searches on guntards to find us. If you are looking for guntards you probably don’t need Google to find Guntards.net. Instead, the searches are often on some combination of keywords that appear in the blog.

This morning one intrepid net surfer arrived on our shores using the following Google search terms:

Freedom States Alliance Gun Guys

If you click on that search, you’ll find that a link to our blog entry on Freedom States Alliance is the third link.

Oh the irony!

It’s likely the fellow who followed that Google link to Guntards.net wasn’t really looking for us. But I hope he enjoyed his stay here and will stick around to learn a thing or two.
