LA district attorney drops six charges against Corwin

Sandbox King Today, according to the LA Times, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office dropped six of the most serious assault weapons charges against Matthew Corwin, the Internet weapons exhibitionist who was busted a couple weeks ago for putting up a really scary MySpace page (since edited by his family). As we predicted, the M1919s he had were determined to be perfectly legal.

Why, as the story indicates, the DA’s office had to consult firearms experts at the BATFE regarding the California Penal Code charges remains a mystery. Apparently, when it comes to California assault weapon law, no one in the the LA County DA’s office is as smart as a guntard.

A judge also reduced Corwin’s bail from $365,000 to $120,000, but he (Corwin, not the judge) still remains in custody.
