Will Zumbo be welcomed back into the fold?

Our friend Nurse Xavier alerts us to a sincere-sounding apologia from Jim Zumbo, posted on Ted Nuget’s forum. I bet it’s sincere: the guy was fired from his teevee show and his magazine, and he lost most if not all his corporate sponsorships, all within 24 hours. On a weekend. Time for a re-think, Jim?

He says, in part:

Looking back, I can’t believe I said the words “ban” and “terrorist” in the context that I did. I don’t know what I was thinking when I wrote that. I can explain this as sheer ignorance and an irresponsible use of words. What I’ve learned over the last few days has enlightened and amazed me . . . I really can’t explain it, maybe because I just summarily dismissed the firearms in question in my mind when I saw them in magazines and catalogs.

ZumboedNo Jim, what happened was for decades you bought into the lies and the myths of the Feinstein-led gun grabbing lobby. Too bad it took the self-torpedoing of your career to finally see how that was a problem for real supporters of gun rights. I guess we can’t all be clever enough (like a guntard) to figure it out all by ourselves.

Regular readers will also be gratified to learn that Zumbo now realizes “the 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting and hunting guns.” I guess you gotta walk before you can run.

But my favorite comment is by Nurse Xavier, who I think summed things up nicely with these words:

From the outset, this blogswarm was about an influential figure in the gun owning community who advocated division in the gun owning ranks. Rather than dividing, the gun owning community came together.

Yeah. For once.
